Yeah the "proprietary" connector heads are able to be opened and the cheapo tin wire replaced. I replaced mine with silver plated pure copper Van Den Hul wires and crimped on silver over copper crimps that fit nicely into the connectors. Makes a massive difference tbh.

Hi Van, Nice to hear from you. Yeah there's not as many of us about nowadays. I used to frequent nearly all the English speaking Kuro forums back in the day but grew tired of tweaking rivalries and just misinformation and crap being spoken of these panels with types with vested interests of not wanting people to keep hold of these for obvious reasons. This forum could be a breath of fresh air though because there's not going to be "rival" fanboi's or manufacturers etc etc going to bother coming on here I don't think. It's great what you are doing keeping the Pioneer TV's and monitors going and keeping the word out there. Yeah the Kuro's have been about since '07' but they genuinely are still amongst the best and any videophile worth their salt knows so. But in recent years with high bit-rate material becoming more and more available these have been given a new lease of life (showing what they're really capable of) in all truth. I've always considered an external video processor but actually never got around to it but I will consider a DVDO one day for sure. I'm a big mains/power tweaker these days with a lot of high end quality conditioning and cabling, fuses, plugs IEC'S etc etc - everything connection wise basically and these make a massive difference to the plasma especially but do also help any display tech tbh. Yeah the Kuro's are so accurate by default they don't need a helluva lot of calibration but it definitely lifts them up another gear regardless Van for sure. I've got a service remote which gets me into both the M and recently discovered it actually gets into the 37" Pioneer LCD too !... So I will probably be doing some color tweaks for the LCD in the coming weeks but was pleased to see it only had just over 3K hours on it. I bought it last year and they definitely are underrated because for a back-lit LCD the image is very strong and punchy and with pretty good black levels (especially with a little back lighting) and shadow details. The motion I think is exceptional for the tech on it too. Cheers

Hi I'm Stu. Pioneer Kuro fan for best part of 13 years. Avid tweaker too in that time... Owned and sold a few KRP-500 "TV'S" and a 500M. But nowadays own a solitary KRP-600M. It's great tbh that this forum has started up because the Kuro is exactly that - great and it's fantastic that people still appreciate and still want to talk about the greatest plasma's ever built. And displays that still very comfortably hold their own amongst the latest and greatest display technologies !!!. I'm still super proud to own one as my main display panel of choice. I also own the underrated KRL Pioneer LCD which I keep as my bedroom TV. Best Regards, Stu

Hi, I've owned and sold on various KRP's in the past 13 years - a few 500A's a 500M, and nowadays I own a solitary 600M. The side speakers you will likely find on eBay by a seller called 'The Pioneer Man'... He would likely have some. I bought my new open box side speakers for the 600M from him last year. But unfortunately they don't come with the wire assembly - even if they are brand new in the box. The speaker cables only came with the panel when it was new in the box. The part numbers for both the wires are ADF-1038 (left wire) and ADF-1039 (right wire). It's unfortunate that the connectors are proprietary but they are available. I've bought them for the 500M but sold them along with the monitor and speakers a few years ago. But last spring I found a parts company in the US and they sourced them through Pioneer and posted them to me here in Scotland. They're brand new and built to order by Pioneer I believe but they're not cheap - I think it was about £130.00 or £140.00 all in all including postage. It may have been about £20 cheaper but I opted for insured and slightly faster post. Nothing with Pioneer was ever cheap but I believe it's very worth it because the side-speakers look super classy and really round of the KRP look. So if you type into a browser the part number you'll very likely find the cables to be pre-orderd online from the US. Hope this helps.... Kind Regards, Stu
