Red Tint is a rather debatable topic, when it comes to the Pioneer Kuro TV.
On one hand, you have those that see it as an irritating flaw in the design, whilst others pay no attention to it because the actual visible picture quality is still superb.
It comes in two forms:
Moderate: When viewing a blank screen with no source, or the cropped black bars when watching certain movies, a feint reddish tint, or an uneven messy field of blotches of reddish black, is visible, even though the actual source material picture quality is fine...
Severe: On white, light or dark scenes there is a 'reddish' hue and/or magenta sparkles, sometimes accompanied by image lag and a 'reddish' retention

The former is subjective, the latter must be rectified...
"How many people scrutinize the black level of the screen in their local cinema before the movie starts??"
What causes Red Tint?
Originally, in the factory, the voltages/PSU/plasma Panel were tuned to work in harmony, and keep everything inky black, regardless of the absence of source material. However, on certain models, and/or over time, the system becomes slack; bad communication between the PSU and Panel pixel voltages, causing pixel misfires, resulting in red artifacts/tint within source material (worst case scenario), or the cropped black borders, and/or the blank screen.
Can it be corrected?
Mostly yes... The 50 inch Kuro (depending on the year of manufacture/model/age of Panel/Condition of PSU & Drive Assemblies), has a 100% success rate to completely restore, and even improve, the Kuro "inky black" it is famous for.
However, the 60inch Kuro used a completely different PSU and Panel, which doesn't take too well to being reset, without leaving some very small anomalies; green or white sparkles, that briefly appear in dark scenes. Note : These anomalies can be mitigated with further tweaking.
Fortunately, adjusting the voltages will remove the 'red tint' in light scenes, but more than often, usually 2008 manufactured 60 inch Kuro—2009 ones fair much better, the best you can get in regards to the black cropped bars and/or a blank screen with no source, is an even smooth field—no blotches...
Again, the actual source content, like a Bluray movie, will still be superb.
